Joseph T. Hanlon is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Geriatrics and Department of Pharmacy and Therapeutics at the University of Pittsburgh and a Health Scientist in the Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion and Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. He is also the co-director of the Geriatric Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Gero-Informatics Research and Training Program. Dr. Hanlon has been continuously funded as a researcher since 1987 in the areas of pharmacoepidemiology and health services interventions to improve drug therapy for the elderly. Dr. Hanlon is a practicing clinical pharmacist and frequently teaches/speaks to students, residents, fellows and health professional groups. He also has been actively involved in mentoring the research activities of postgraduate students, fellows, and young faculty members. He is an active member of a number of professional organizations including ISPE, AGS, ACCP, GSA, ASCP, and ASHP.
