For Thomas Kuhn, a crucial characteristic of normal science was the communal acceptance of a taxonomic lexicon; scientific revolutions occur when terms begin to overlap and can no longer be ordered taxonomically. My question is: Does contemporary biology conform to this characterization? And if not, what can be said about the dramatic transformations currently taking place?
