An Introduction to the Fascinating World of Electron Interactions and Dynamics of Quantum Materials - Fabio Boschini (INRS)

Quantum materials are at the heart of current condensed matter research and have the potential to revolutionize many aspects of everyday life. I will introduce you to the world of electron interactions and intertwined orders, ubiquitous in the field of quantum materials. I will then discuss the importance of studying electron dynamics and interactions with momentum resolution and I will introduce two powerful techniques: time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (TR-ARPES) and resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS). I will show how TR-ARPES and RIXS have helped us unravel some of the mysteries surrounding the exotic electronic properties of high-temperature cuprate superconductors, prototypical quantum materials.
