The distribution of the spacing of consecutive energies is an important indicator of integrability and hidden symmetries. We present a quantum spin 1/2 chain and its level spacing distributions in different symmetry sectors. This chain is obtained from a classical Ising spin chain coupled to a bath. Its level statistics (analysed in the context of random matrix theory) show multiple behaviors. Finally, we discuss the technical challenges encountered when computing level statistics of an increasingly large chain.
