Titre de la conférence :
Life Stage Assessment of the Preterm Cardiovascular Phenotype and Interventions for the Future &rsaq

Résumé :
Preterm birth affects around 10% of births worldwide and has emerged as a novel risk factor for heart failure in childhood and adolescence. We have identified a unique cardiac phenotype in young adults born preterm, which appears to first emerge in early postnatal life and may be altered by neonatal nutrition and preterm-related complications. Our focus is now on better defining how the cardiac phenotype of preterm-born individuals progresses during different developmental stages, how it relates to other known alterations in the cardiovascular phenotype, and ways to reduce cardiovascular risk in this growing subgroup of the population.
